Well, aside from a security perspective where you have active sessions
lying on the server, there is a performance hit also. Every session,
unless specifically invalidated (session.invalidate() in Java if I am
not mistaken) it will consume some amount of resources on the server,
unless the session times out and the resources are garbage collected, if
the language supports the feature.

In short, always encourage users to logoff, and make sure the logoff
actually does a session invalidation.

We have a web applicaiton which do not have logoff button. The developer
claims that it is unnecessary, since the session can be terminated by
closing the browser. Is it correct? Thanks.
