Sounds like your idea is more worthwhile if it means something that is actively maintained. I'm not a great C programmer (know enough to be dangerous), but I am also certainly willing to contribute ideas.

Since Barnyard has been abandoned (yes, I consider it abandoned), I've
started working on a new (from scratch) version that supports unified2,
64-bit arch and more database variety). I need to get some updates/bug
fixes/features finished for BASE first before I can dedicate too much
time, our most precious of all resources.
Consider this a call for help if anyone so desires.
