But you seem to be saying that not only will monitor mode take it
down (which is understandable), but that *promiscuous* mode will too.

This should not happen.  In fact with henWen running I can transfer
data fast for short periods, but then it shuts down.  Any idea what
about promiscuous is causing this?

Any idea whether it's the driver or microcode, or what?


I have no idea :(.  All I know is that passive sniffing and being connected
at the same time just do not work.  Packet capturing with tcpdump while
connected works fine, so I think it's a monitor mode issue.  My MacBook
triple boots into linux, and I have the same issue across the board booting
into linux and running kismet or airdump-ng.  Bet there's someone out there
smarter then me that can have better answers then just experiences.
