BASE was started from the ACID codebase.  However the BASE project
started we have made some significant changes to the code.  (Besides the
colors and whole look of it)

There are literally more than 20 - 30 bug fixes, along with about 10 -20
new features.  The BASE code will be changing signifcantly (not only
appearance) but with authentication mechanisms, permissions, more
database capabilities (IE Oracle), more languages (BASE now has about 10
languages IIRC), differenent Caching mechanisms..  Etc.  

Yes, BASE is better than ACID, and I personally encourage that people
switch from ACID to BASE (it's very simple), and look forward to future
releases!!

The 'base' home page states:

  BASE is the Basic Analysis and Security Engine. It is based on the
  code from the Analysis Console for Intrusion Databases (ACID) project.

Could someone comment on what has been added over standard 'acid'?

Is 'base' "better" than 'acid'?  ;-)
