is there a set of intructions on how to convert a running acid on windows 2000 to base on windows 2000 thanks wt -----Original Message----- From: snort-users-admin@lists.sourceforge.net [mailto:snort-users-admin@lists.sourceforge.net]On Behalf Of Esler, Joel - Contractor Sent: Friday, November 26, 2004 9:20 AM To: khj@cs.appstate.edu; snort-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: RE: [Snort-users] Base vs. Acid BASE was started from the ACID codebase. However the BASE project started we have made some significant changes to the code. (Besides the colors and whole look of it) There are literally more than 20 - 30 bug fixes, along with about 10 -20 new features. The BASE code will be changing signifcantly (not only appearance) but with authentication mechanisms, permissions, more database capabilities (IE Oracle), more languages (BASE now has about 10 languages IIRC), differenent Caching mechanisms.. Etc. Yes, BASE is better than ACID, and I personally encourage that people switch from ACID to BASE (it's very simple), and look forward to future releases!! It is based on the code from the Analysis Console for Intrusion Databases (ACID) project. Could someone comment on what has been added over standard 'acid'? Is 'base' "better" than 'acid'? ;-) Thanks for your comments, -- Prof Kenneth H Jacker khj@cs.appstate.edu Computer Science Dept www.cs.appstate.edu/~khj Appalachian State Univ Boone, NC 28608 USA ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
