| Subject: | [Snort-sigs] 119:4 False Positive after 302 - Moved Temporarily |

Hello,
Regarding http_inspect BARE BYTE UNICODE ENCODING and a possible false
positive
(Snort 2.7.0,
preprocessor http_inspect_server: server default \ profile all \ ports { 80
}):
This packet was sent from my home system to Doubleclick after receiving a
HTTP/1.0 302 Moved Temporarily response to a previous GET request.
Since the request the client made was a direct response to a 302 from the
server, it seems this may be a situation that http_inspect should take into
consideration before alerting? As a client, I was merely requesting the page
the 302 error indicated I should GET (or if I was the server, the client was
only requesting a page I told it to request).
pcaps of the 302 error from server and the alerted packet are attached.
Traffic in between was standard TCP (...302; ACK; FIN,ACK; ACK || SYN;
SYN,ACK; ACK; GET...).
Kind Regards,
Lee
