How do I test my rules: I created a text file with my rules as firstname.lastname.alert.txt How do I get it to run the rules I created?
First, you should read your assignment more carefully. Your instructor told you to use firstname.lastname.alert.txt for the RESULTS of your test, NOT for your rules file. As for getting snort to read your rules, you must edit your snort.conf file to have an include directive for whatever file contains your rules. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
