Our recent work has been on the design of efficient string matching algorithms and the development of a performance analysis methodology, focusing on the Snort IDS. During the course of our research we have developed two new string matching algorithms for Snort, "E2xB" and "Piranha", which we have found in most cases to outperform the algorithms currently implemented in Snort.
