have you checked out the Snort manual yet? Good place to start - covers the basics of a rule (header, options etc) and gets into the details of fine tuning them. http://www.snort.org/docs/snort_htmanuals/htmanual_2.4/node14.html get the essentials there, then review different rules submitted at Bleeding Snort to further understand them good luck adam _____ From: bleeding-sigs-bounces@bleedingsnort.com [mailto:bleeding-sigs-bounces@bleedingsnort.com] On Behalf Of MUKESH KUMAR SINGH Sent: Thursday, September 29, 2005 11:25 PM To: bleeding-sigs@bleedingsnort.com; bleeding@bleedingsnort.com; snort-sigs@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: [Bleeding-sigs] [NewBie Question] Can Anyone Tell me how to write snort rules Hi Friends, I am new to this group and snort.
