| Subject: | [Snort-sigs] Notice on future Rule Submissions |
|---|---|
| Date: | Thu, 29 Sep 2005 18:51:34 -0500 |
A quick notice to all: In order to avoid rule duplication in the Snort Community Sigs and BleedingSnort repositories, starting today we will change how we work rule submissions of users to the sigs mail lists. If you like to submit a signature to the BleedingSnort repository, please submit your rule to us directly at bleeding@bleedingsnort.com or to our mail list at bleeding-sigs@bleedingsnort.com. You may also post it at our web forums, but the mail lists will generally result in faster processing. If you like to submit a signature to the Snort Community repository, please submit your rule to snort-sigs@lists.sourceforge.net or via the web interface at http://www.snort.org/reg-bin/rulesubmit.cgi BleedingSnort will no longer pick submissions from the snort-sigs lists. Only by defining the appropriate submissions channels can we both, Snort Community and BleedingSnort, ensure that duplication of rules is kept to a minimum and that the end users will receive the best service from either repository. If you have any questions, please let us know. Regards, Frank Knobbe on behalf of BleedingSnort (respectfully submitting this suggestion to the OSSRC committee for inclusion in future policy and procedure manuals, training videos, and other internal redundant policy and procedure manuals and training videos... ;)
