Hmm. That's bogus. There's no reason that the USER has to be at the
start of the packet.

Heh... actually, I think I have to agree. The USER has to be at the
beginning on the line, but that doesn't have to be the beginning of the
_stream_. 

OK, so then it's anchored by ^ or \r\n then, with a \s afterwards.
