There are already examples of rules within Snort that do a similar thing:
the "NETBIOS SMB ADMIN$ share access" and the like show you when someone
accesses an adminstrative share... - like , maybe, an administrator? :-)

So it's not far-fetched to want similar rules for other non-Windows devices.

However, we use SSH - so couldn't use that anyway (damn that encryption!!).
OTOH we enable syslog on all our routers, and that reports when someone's
fiddling anyway - so we're covered ;-)
