| Subject: | Purchasing Firewalls through MSSP or In-House |

My company is looking to continue leasing firewalls and IDS sensors through our managed security service provider (MSSP). We, however, would like to calculate the "break-even" point if we were to purchase firewalls and maintenance agreements in-house and allow the MSSP to solely monitor and manage the devices. Does anyone have formulas or references for calculating and comparing the financial benefits of both options? It should be complex enough to plug in values for the extra headcount necessary to support this effort. Thank you.
