Any organization's security policies should be based on PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) model. What ever you've planned today, will be implemented tomorrow. And then Checked (Audited),to see if they come across any NC (Non-Confirmities) will be taken into consideration for future implementation. I will suggest, in order to guarantee a sound future policy and a happy management, follow some regulatory compliance like BS 7799. It'll guarantee that whatever the strengths of this compliance are, will also be of your organization. If you follow a policy compliance already, then you should keep auditing the practices which are in place and see that they meet the policy's requirements and any further enhancement should be incorporated in policies which will be with Version controlled and will be audited in the next round of audit. So regulatory compliance check is a sound future plan. -Regards Pukhraj Singh
