Vulnerability Mitigation Management

Subject: Vulnerability Mitigation Management
Date: Tue, 02 Nov 2004 14:43:05 -0500
Hello List,

I recently began working for a large corporation and have been given the task to develop a vulnerability mitigation management system/program/process. The purpose of this system would be to track vulnerabilities from their initial discovery to the point where the issue is mitigated to an accepted risk level. Issues can be anything from a violation of the InfoSec policy to the deployment of a patch. The main goal is to prevent vulnerabilities (regardless of their classification) from falling through the cracks and ensure that someone has been assigned responsibility to fix the problem. I am currently looking into the various flavors of issue/bug tracking software but was hoping to get some feedback from anyone who has experience in this area and/or has used any technology for this purpose. I welcome any discussion or thoughts.

Thanks,
Brian
