I am a little offput by the vendor responses I've received to my most recent posts. While I can certainly appreciate the offers of assistance, this forum is not intended to create sales opportunities - in fact, it is disheartening to see it being used in such a way (especially since I cannot control personal responses generated outside the forum). This forum is intended to be used by security professionals who are all dealing with the common challenges of implementing information security programs - to share information and help create maturity within our profession. These goals are not furthered when I get 15 response that say "hey, we have a product that can help you". If I were interested in products, I'd be writing RFP's and working with the vendors that I feel comfortable with in order to address my needs. I don't mean to come across as harsh to vendors (I've been on that side of the table to), but this isn't the place for product pitches (as posts to the forum, or as individual responses). I am looking for response from other people who have found solutions to their problems in their own environments... Vendors do not qualify (unless of course you are the security manager for a vendor company) ;-) I am just asking that you please respect the members of this forum and their reasons for subscribing to it. If I am in the minority here, please let me know... Thanks, Board Moderator * And no, I do not have the ability to remove people from this list - please see the removal instructions at the site where you signed up... ======================== Brad Bemis, CISSP, CISA, CBCP Supervisor - Enterprise Security Nordstrom, Inc.
