The Role
The system IDS Analyst is responsible to the Intrusion Detection System Team
Leader (IDSTL) for maintaining the security of the system in accordance with
the Operational Security Management Plan.
The role requires coordination with the IDSTL, System Security Manager, the
System Administrator, at other Government agencies and units.
Skills, knowledge and experience
Essential
The Analyst must be a UK national and hold DV security clearance.
At least 3 years experience of administering Windows networks or 1 year IDS
analysis experience. A thorough understanding of network attack methodology is
assumed
A thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows event log messaging is required.
Capable of working alone, unsupervised for long periods whilst on shift.
Familiarity with Government network architecture and its service delivery
points.
Desirable
12 months experience with Microsoft Operation Manager.
12 months experience with the IDS in use.
Experience with vulnerability assessment would be valuable.
12 months experience with operating McAfee ePO would be valuable.
Experience at dealing with computer security incidents.
