Position:       Penetration Engineer
Location:       Washington, District of Columbia, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

Closing Date:   2008-04-04

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and 
must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Top 
Secret clearance is required with the ability to attain SCI. 

Any candidate accepted for this position will be responsible for leading teams 
conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration tests on a wide range of 
information technology in support of the FBI certification and accreditation 
process. Responsibilities will include personally conducting assessments and 
tests, mentoring and leading other team members and project management. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Successful candidates must possess working knowledge of common commercial 
and/or open source vulnerability assessment tools and techniques used for 
evaluating operating systems, networking devices, databases and web servers. 
Applicants may be asked to demonstrate their knowledge in a computer laboratory 
environment. 

Successful candidates should be familiar with certification and accreditation 
processes in general; experience with the NIST 800 series of documents would be 
advantageous. 

Successful candidates must be able to quickly master new technology / software 
for the purposes of evaluating or subverting the security functionality of the 
technology / software. 

Successful candidates must have eleven years of experience in vulnerability 
assessment or a technical field within information security, as well as a 
degree in a related field. If no degree, candidates must possess thirteen years 
of related experience. Additionally, candidates should have prior experience 
leading vulnerability assessment projects and/or managing other information 
security engineers. Professional certifications and progress toward a college 
degree will be taken into consideration. 

A master’s degree in computer science or a related field is desired; 
professional certifications and progress toward college degrees will be taken 
into consideration. 

Will involve about 10% travel.
