Job description:
This Central New Jersey based company, which provides end-to-end, turnkey
solutions for the Defense and Homeland Security markets, seeks a Network
Engineer/Architect.
Network engineer with 5+ years experience setting up, troubleshooting and
maintaining complex network installations. The individual will ideally have a
blend of telecom and enterprise networking experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
** Complete understanding of all levels and interaction of the OSI network
layers
** Fundamental knowledge of circuit and packet switched networks
** Knowledge of other complimentary communication protocols preferred. E.g
serial, iSCSI etc.
** Fiber optic technologies a plus.
** Wireless networking and access technologies is preferred. At a very minimum
must have implemented Wi-Fi access infrastructure including authentication and
authorization, encryption.
** Clear understanding of QoS and SLA concepts a must
** Implementation knowledge of POS and EOS technologies a must
** Should have an understanding of networking concepts like Multicasting and
VPN. Familiarity with various vendor implementations of such technologies
** Practical experience provisioning various vendor equipment, operational
knowledge of heterogeneous environments including legacy equipment and support
infrastructures
** Configuration management and fault recovery experience a must
** Network troubleshooting and management concepts and practice. Experience
using network and element management systems, network monitoring and control
protocols a must.
** Systems administration experience required for installing and maintaining
EMS/NMS software is a must.
** Experience using network sniffers, protocol analyzers preferred
** Preparation and drafting skills of network diagrams, conceptual and as-built
interconnection diagrams and layout is required
** Must be able to work in an engineering/R&D environment and be adapatable to
constant change in technology and implementation approaches. Must be a team
player and be able to work under pressure and hard deadlines.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
** Licensure, Accreditation, Certification of Degree(s) required:
BSEE/MSEE or equivalent experience
Experience:
Required: 5+ Years Experienced in complex system of systems design and
integration. Familiarity with network equipment installation and use including:
Networking elements for example Cisco, Netgear. Firewalls, Wireless Access
Points, Storage servers, Ethernet cabling & Fiber Optics.
Skills / Aptitudes:
Proficient in MS Office Suite including Visio Microsoft Windows Server Systems
Administration. Working knowledge of SunOS, Linux a big plus. Proficient in use
of Network and Protocol Analysis tools
WORKING CONDITIONS
** National / International travel may be required up to 5%
** Some weekend and evening hours required.
** Flexibility in working night and weekends - compensated time-off
** Must be hands-on and capable of using cable and fiber optic termination
equipment, tools and other test equipment.
** Minimal overnight travel. Local area travel required, must be able to work
on-site
