SOC Infrastructure Support
Daily Work Description
The objective of the Infrastructure Support position is to provide deployment,
administration, and managing of security devices and security systems within
the SOC which support operational delivery (e.g. patch/health/maintenance of
firewalls, Microsoft/Sun servers, and applications such as Arcsight,
WEBPortals, ISS, MS Terminal Server, etc.). This includes personally
maintaining the hardware, operating systems, and databases of servers and
devices within the SOC infrastructure. Additionally the team will coordinate
with vendors and third parties for product and operating systems updates, new
software solutions, operating systems lifecycle support, and advanced support
for security devices. Individual must be strongly self motivated with attention
to detail.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary function of this position is to maintain the health, security, and
operational status of the SOC infrastructure. Specifically the Infrastructure
Support Team will:
Deploy new solutions within the SOC which support contractual obligations.
Monitor the Health of SOC devices supporting service delivery.
Oversight of SOC solutions throughout the device life-cycle (patch, upgrade,
administration, etc.)
Document the configuration of the SOC architecture and associated devices.
Administer SOC devices for configuration changes associated with policies,
rules, user accounts, etc.
Secondary Responsibilities
The secondary duties of the Infrastructure Support team is to support the
Incident Response Manager and Service Delivery Managers, and develop proposals
for new solutions. The Infrastructure Support Team will:
Participate in Incident Response activities to provide technical insight into
the security technologies deployed within the SOC.
Author and develop solutions and standards for new clients supported by the
Federal SOC.
Oncall availability 7x24x365 is required. Normal hours of service are business
hours Monday through Friday
Education and Experience
Average of 6 years implementation, and planning experience in two or more areas
of Security technology or application specialization. Bachelor’s degree or
equivalent experience. Prior work experience should include:
- Working with teams in a highly dynamic environments
- Configuring and installing Security technologies in Security Operations
Centers
- Experienced knowledge of IP routing, data-flows, and analysis of network
traffic/usage for evaluating appropriate tuning, filtering, and rule
development in security correlation and reporting tools
- Configuring and installing a wide-range of technology and COTS solutions and
tools
- Knowledge and proficiency in infrastructure architecture, design, development
and/or implementation techniques.
