Job Description:
This is an exciting IT security career opportunity in the Infrastructure
Technology Services (ITS) division of Guardian Life Insurance Company, a
Fortune 500 company. This individual will be a member of the ITS Security
Operations team chartered to operationally advance and enforce Guardian
Corporate security policies. This individual will have a senior role managing
security logging and reporting for the entire Guardian IT infrastructure. In
addition, this individual will perform routine auditing of system compliance
with IT security control configuration standards. This is a highly technical,
hands-on position requiring broad experience with security infrastructure
technology and common IT systems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have experience building and administering IT infrastructure
logging systems; gathering, parsing, and reporting of security events from
various security components including firewalls, proxies, intrusion detection
systems, host based intrusion prevention systems, virus protection systems,
authentication systems (AD, LDAP, RADIUS, RSA, etc.), Unix (AIX and Redhat),
Microsoft Windows, routers, middleware, web systems, and database systems (UDB,
Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server).
This new position will make technical and product recommendations, and
implement a new enterprise logging infrastructure. Routine duties include
review of security events from IT infrastructure, database, and business
applications. Additional duties include reconciliation of privileged access to
hosts, confirm appropriate use of Internet and Extranet resources, confirm
appropriate use of access controls including two-factor authentication, LDAP,
and RADIUS, auditing of system configuration compliance with established build
standards, confirm appropriate use of resources (e.g., databases, files, tapes,
etc.), verify changes are in accordance to change control management, and
initial forensic investigations associated with IT security incidents.
This individual will work closely with Security Operations team members, IT,
CTO, CSO and business teams to ensure that Guardian security policies are
continually followed as intended. Broad hands-on experience as an IT systems
administrator is required with a minimum of 8 year experience. Candidates
demonstrating advanced skill with IT certifications (e.g., MCSE+Security, RHCE,
and ITIL) are desired. Extensive IT security technology expertise is desired
with at least 5 years experience performing security infrastructure and
operations related duties. Candidates that can demonstrate their security
skills with recognized security certifications from SANS (e.g., GSE, GCIH,
GSNA, etc.) are preferred. Backgrounds in IT systems assurance and
infrastructure auditing are also of interest.
