Maintains operational security systems - ensures systems operate per agreed 
SLAs. Function includes configuration management to meet business nees in 
secure implementation

Researches Risks - Researches Technologies and identifies Policy alternatives. 
Researches application risks, researches technologies to mitigate risks. 
Identifies Standards alternatives. Drafts Security Group Procedures. Monitors 
Security Activities for IT Security Policy Compliance; Escalates violation of 
IT policies; Consults with site IT staff to develop mitigation steps. Completes 
IT Security Audit programs. Notes policy non-compliance. Educates on risks 
observed and suggests mitigation. Generates Audit Compliance Reports. Assists 
in developing IT Security Audit Program.

Monitors market on new technologies and selects specific technologies for 
evaluation. Develops test procedures for evaluating new technologies. 
Investigates design alternatives. Recommends best design approach to meet 
security goals while supporting business goals. Implements new security 
solutions using new and existing technologies. Ensure proper operation of new 
technologies. Consults with other IT organizations to aid the implementation of 
security infrastructure in their local IT services organization. Supports IT 
Service organizations globally on Security issues. Researches technologies to 
satisfy security issues identified. Verifies security issues resolved 
satisfactorily.

Researches Patches. Defines patch priorities. Installs patches to maintain 
security devices. Implements approved access changes (Note -these could include 
firewall rules or users access permissions), Define access levels permissions 
and authorize approval processes. Participate in Incident Response groups. 
Contribute the development of standard incident response scenarios and incident 
response responses. Monitors system logs, event logs, event correlation devices 
for indications of security and security system anomalies. Responds to 
anomalies. Alerts senior staff members/management if significant anomalies 
occur.

Reviews IT policies. Evaluates impact on existing processes and procedures. 
Recommends changes to improve overall security model. Develops IT Controls 
Audit Process. Identifies guidelines to determine risk impacts of IT controls 
deficiencies. Researches automated IT controls systems. Execute IT controls 
automated processes. Reviews findings with local site IT admins. Review 
associated risks with local IT admins.

Review existing implementations using risk assessment framework. Note 
deficiencies. Identifies options that would mitigate risks within constraints 
of the application.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Strong knowledge of IT technologies

3-5 years IT technology Experience

3-5 years Unix System Administration - Sun Solaris preferred

3 years Windows Administrations - Strong Windows Security concepts
