SR. SECURITY ENGINEER
Description:
The Sr. Security Engineer has a high level expertise and understanding within
all areas of Network Security Technologies, Vendor Specific products, and a
solid knowledge of associated Security Governance. While there are many facets
to the role, the predominant activities revolve around the Design of Security
Network Infrastructure, Proof of Concept, hardware staging / installation and,
where applicable, support of existing infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities
• Work as part of a team to complete
assignments and tasks associated with the
technical delivery of Security Solutions
• Assist other Senior Engineers,
Consultants, Solution Architects, Project
Managers and Account Managers on bids and
proposals, providing input to the
identification of customer requirements,
opportunity qualification, technical
response, scoping and timing of tasks,
and lessons learned from previous
projects.
• Assist other Senior Engineers,
Consultants, Solution Architects and
Project Managers in the design,
development, implementation and/or
support of network, systems and/or
software solutions.
• Maintain a high standard of technical
deliverables, providing project support
to Junior and Senior System Engineers,
meeting agreed timeframes and outcomes.
• Define, plan, implement and test work
carried out, and receive sign-off from
customers.
• Carry out Security audits, analyze audit
data, identify issues and produce reports
with proposed resolution to issues.
• Write detailed design and build
documentation, and ensure that a “Peer
Review” is completed.
• Assist the Project Manager to identify
and capture ‘out of scope’ project
activities (variations) to aid the
recovery of project costs / increase
project profitability.
• Share knowledge and assist other team
members to solve technical problems
encountered on projects and in providing
support.
• Capture and escalate unresolved project
and support issues to the Project
Manager, Field Services Manager, Senior
Engineer, Consultant or Technical Team
Lead
• Assist with the management of customer
expectations and meeting of customer
satisfaction from a technical perspective.
• Provide maintenance, administration,
troubleshooting and diagnostics support
for customers’ networks including
hardware, software and/or systems issues,
liaising with other engineers, carriers
and customer as appropriate.
• Provide on-site and telephone support to
end users as required.
• Ensure contracted Uptime and Insite
service level agreements are met or
exceeded.
• Escalate support issues to Management /
Vendors in a timely manner, and be
familiar with escalation and back-out
procedures.
• Be available to provide out of business
hours stand-by support as rostered.
• Maintain an attitude that inspires self-
improvement and success within the team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:
• Desired Industry / Vendor certifications
CISSP, CCNA, CCNP, CCSA, CCSE
• Strong UNIX Skills (Solaris, BSD, Linux,
etc)
• Cisco PIX, IDS / IPS, ASA, VPN
Concentrator ,Routers / Switches, etc
• Checkpoint Secure Platform, Firewall 1,
etc
• Clearswift - Mailsweeper
• RSA – Secure ID / ACE
• At least 3 years of experience in a
computer service / support environment
with a focus on Security.
• Ability to diagnose and repair
specialized products (Firewalls, Routers,
Switches, etc).
• Ability to plan and execute complex areas
of installation.
• Ability to provide detailed written
responses to technical requirements.
• Good knowledge of security risks and
preventative controls.
• Good understanding of security
operational processes and controls.
• Good project, analysis, problem solving,
and business relationship skills.
• Good interpersonal and consultative
skills.
• An understanding of the law as it relates
to IT.
