Position: Security Engineer
Location: Schaumburg, Illinois, United States
Type: Permanent F/T

The Motorola Security Operations Center is currently seeking an individual with
strong security background to join a team of professionals delivering quality
IT security services to a variety of top-tier international clients. We are a
Fortune 100 company with sales over US$41 billion in 2006, a global leader in
communications technologies across many business lines. Our Security Operations
Center (SOC) provides 24x7x365 security monitoring and support for our
customers.
The Security Engineer on our Security Projects team is responsible for a wide
range of project-oriented security tasks including maintaining and developing
software, defining and improving procedures, customizing our security
monitoring software to adapt to daily changes, creating and delivering training
to our Monitoring and Analysis team and generally improving the effectiveness
of our SOC.
The members of the Security projects group must have the ability to act
independently of management and possess critical decision making skills.
Off-hour work or scheduling may be required of anyone in this role.
The primary focus of this opportunity is developing and maintaining processes
and software related to network security monitoring.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Understanding of firewall and IDS technology
- Software development experience in multiple programming languages such as
PHP, C#, Java, C++, Python
- Experience creating documentation such as user guides, procedures,
architecture diagrams
- Good understanding of networking (such as HTTP, TCP, IP, UDP, ICMP)
- Project management experience
- Understanding of software development practices such as unit testing,
requirements gathering, configuration management, etc.
- Proficient with multiple operating systems
- 1 to 3 years of full-time hands-on information security experience
- Security certifications such as GCIA, GCIH, CISSP, Security+
- Strong Analytical skills
- A bachelors degree, preferably in an engineering or IT related program
**NOTE** Candidate must be a United States citizen or a Naturalized Citizen of
the United States. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security
investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive
and classified information.
