Position: Security Architect
Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Type: Permanent F/T

The University of Calgary, Information Technologies is currently looking for
Senior Security Architect. Reporting directly to the Information Security
Officer, you will play a key role in establishing, implementing and maintaining
an effective information security program.
As part of the Information Technology team, you will provide the technical
leadership, direction, and guidance necessary to maintain an effective and
efficient campus wide security infrastructure. You will provide
inter-departmental and cross faculty support to ensure that campus wide
infrastructure security needs are identified and addressed through the cost
effective application of proven technologies.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
• Provide security consulting in support of application development,
infrastructure, and enterprise technology projects to ensure the integrity of
the university architecture.
• Ensure that Vulnerability Assessment tools and processes are
effectively deployed and maintained.
• Ensure the timely identification, communication and resolution of all
security incidents.
• Guide the development and implementation of a comprehensive,
distributed infrastructure security architecture.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of university security
policies, standards and guidelines.
• Contribute to formal and informal security awareness/training
initiatives as an advocate for information security.
• Provide oversight and governance to ensure the security
responsibilities outsourced to external entities are provided in accordance
with contractual obligations.
• Lead research and development activities designed to assess need,
analyze costs and benefits, and develop strategies for deploying and
integrating progressive security techniques and technologies.
• Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in computer science or related post secondary
education
• 6 or more years of progressive IT experience
• GIAC, CISSP and/or CISM certifications preferred.
• practical experience in applying Information Security technologies
including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, vulnerability assessment
and management, authentication/authorization, VPN, and secure communications.
• strong communication and collaboration skills, verbal, written and
presentation
consulting, negotiation and relationship skills
• advanced problem solving skills
• experience working in large, geographically dispersed IT organizations
and decentralized Security Model.
