Position: Security System Administrator
Location: rockville, Maryland, United States
Type: Contract

Good day. I'm a recruiter with Pencom Systems, a nationwide technical search
firm. My client is looking to hire an Network/Firewall Engineer Consultant.
Only local candidates will be considered. Green card/permanent resident/US
citizen only.
Location: Rockville, Md.
Term: 6-12 months (can extend)
Start date: ASAP-2 weeks
Rate: Negotiable
Responsible for :
- Responsible for the planning, design, implementation, organization
and operation of the company’s Cisco based data communications
network and network security devices. The job also involves
simultaneously working on the successful engineering, testing and
deployment of multiple large to small projects.
- Responsible for the planning, design, implementation, organization
and operation of the company’s Checkpoint Firewalls based
perimeter security network and network security devices. The job
also involves simultaneously working on the successful
engineering, testing and deployment of multiple projects.
- Responsible for troubleshooting network and firewall problems.
- Be a subject matter expert on network and firewall related issues
Essential Job Functions:
· Responsible for architecture and design of data networks including IP,
ATM, Frame Relay and Gigabit Ethernet based technologies. Ability to obtain
requirements, analyze options and solutions for multiple enterprise projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
· Requires in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and communication protocols.
Experienced in the design of enterprise network routing architectures using
protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP and static routes. Knowledge of Quality
Of Service, IPSec, GRE tunnels, multicasting and traffic balancing techniques
essential.
· Ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor network issues in the LAN
and WAN networks and working with multiple application and system teams to
identify bottlenecks and other network configuration issues.
· Plan and conduct complex project studies; includes analyzing multiple
data sources and publishing results to the team or to the technical user
community;
· Hands-on experience with all phases of firewall and network
operations, firewall change requests, firewall configuration, network services,
and network security.
· Monitor that the firewall and network system is adequately monitored
to identify and solve data communication problems and user performance issues;
this includes understanding chronic issues causing inefficiency in operation
and seek resolution.
· Provide hands-on assistance to the outsourced firewall and network
team to troubleshoot firewall configuration and network equipment to isolate
faults and propose alternate strategies.
Other Responsibilities:
Position demands that the incumbent be able to work independently but also be a
strong team player. Provides guidance and assistance to less experienced
Network & Information Security staff.
Education/Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or information systems or a
related technical discipline or work experience and formal training equivalent
to a four-year degree.
· At least 5+ years of experience in firewall administration, Network &
Information Security, network administration, systems programming, systems
design, or related technical specialties. Experience in managing and
administering network and firewall changes will be a bonus.
