Position:       Security Engineer
Location:       Abbott Park, Illinois, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

<li> Evaluate, plan, design, and support Abbott&#146;s network security, remote 
access, and border network infrastructure. 
<li>Coordinate and assist internal customers on the design and implementation 
of new 3rd party/business partner connections based on security requirements, 
project schedules, applications, and security standards. <li>Participate on 
Abbott&#146;s security committees in order to determine new requests&#146; 
compliance to policy. 
<li>Partner with Abbott&#146;s information security organization in conducting 
security assessments and vulnerability assessments to verify policies are 
maintained. A
<li>nalyze and recommend new network security technologies for use at Abbott 
and create new design architectures based upon those recommendations. 




JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
<li>Technical -- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing/bridging protocols 
(including OSPF, BGP, and Cisco router implementations utilizing NAT), and Sun 
Solaris/Linux/Windows system administration is required. 
<li>Candidate must have extensive experience deploying and managing Checkpoint 
firewalls, ISS Intrusion Prevention Systems, and enterprise personal firewall 
solutions. 
<li>Experience supporting large volume Internet access points (100+ Mbps, 
10,000+ clients, and 20+ firewalls) is highly preferred. 
<li>Practical Experience configuring and managing large VPN infrastructure 
deployments (1000+ clients) is required -- Cisco 5000 series knowledge highly 
preferred. 
<li>Experience in configuring, managing, and supporting VPN technology on 
Windows clients is required. 
<li>Experience in designing and managing two-factor authentication environments 
is highly preferred. 
<li>Non-Technical &#150; Customer service orientation with strong verbal and 
written communication skills is required. 
<li>Candidate must demonstrate ability to negotiate and reach consensus using 
positive and effective means. 
<li>Candidate must demonstrate ability to use active listening skills and 
achieve compromise even when faced with a non-optimal result. <li>Project 
management experience is highly preferred. 
<li>Candidate must have strong problem solving skills and aptitude for learning 
and assimilating new technologies. 
<li>Candidate should be expected to travel up to 15%, both domestic and 
international. 

<li>BS in IS/Computer Science/Engineering or 6-10 years equivalent work 
experience required. MS in IS/Computer Science/Engineering preferred.
