Position: Security Auditor
Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-12-10
The IT Auditor (Security Specialist) performs IT audit work with a
concentration in the areas of system security controls, including application
controls and general security controls. Reports to an IT Auditor II, Senior,
Manager, or the ITS Director.
Arizona Revised Statutes §41-1279.03 established the Office of the Auditor
General to be an independent source of impartial information concerning state
and local governmental entities and to provide specific recommendations to
improve the operations of those entities.
The Office has audit responsibility for state agencies, counties, universities,
community college districts, and school districts. The Office also completes
highly specific research and investigative projects in response to legislative
requests.
Starting Salary
$44,900 - $58,800 depending on experience
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
•Help develop audit policies and
procedures for reviewing and testing the security of IT systems
•Help develop IT audit plans and procedures, drafts audit-specific
programs, and estimates time needed to complete audit tasks
•Perform security audit procedures and obtain evidence regarding the
security of IT systems, including;Network and communication systems, Database
systems, Web-based applications
•Prepare audit documentation
•Draft and revise audit findings
•Communicate results of audit work to supervisors and audit clients
•Assist with the development and/or delivery of training classes on IT
controls and security
•Consult with other staff on IT security audit and control issues
•Seek formal and informal opportunities for training and professional
development
The ideal candidate will:
•Possess a basic understanding of IT concepts and operations and/or
auditing
•Possess a moderate degree of experience with IT security operations
and/or security auditing and testing
•Understand fundamental IT audit concepts, practices, and procedures
•Possess a working knowledge of basic software applications, such as
e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
•Demonstrate the ability to prioritize activities and to multi-task
•Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability
to explain technical topics to non-technical people
•Demonstrate the ability to write in a clear and concise manner
•Interact with coworkers and clients in a constructive and professional
manner
•Demonstrate a strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative and
work well under pressure
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in an IT, or
audit–related course of study
•Ability to travel
