Position: Technical Writer
Location: Washington, District of Columbia, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-12-07
•Write, edit, index, or revise a variety of technical and user
documentation such as standard operating procedures and/or manuals for a wide
range of uses, provides certification and accreditation (C&A) documentation
development, coordination and support of FISMA and FISCAM audits, and
development of various data call responses.. Collaborate with engineers and/or
technicians to gain an understanding of requirements to determine types of
publications needed. Ensure accuracy and completeness of technical
documentation.
•The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills
with an understanding of system concepts, operating systems, and/or networking.
•Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation for current and future
applications i.e., technical reference manuals and production control manuals.
•Create, edit, and maintain procedural documentation including but not
limited to department policies and procedures (SOP's) and/or "how to" user
guides and application guides
•Support quality assurance efforts, assemble documentation for audits and
ensure that documentation is compliant with federal regulations
•May include policy development and services such as FISMA Compliancy,
Risk Assessments, Authority to Operate (C&A) certification, audit coordination,
technical documentation/deliverable development, data call synthesis and
compilation, and other administrative/operational tasks as assigned by client.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Work requires a minimum of three years writing experience, preferably
in a technical field with an emphasis on technical and security documentation.
Prefer that one of the three years of experience be in information systems or
information technology.
• Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and to combine
varied information from multiple sources into cogent reports
• Ability to work with networked computers and database, word processing
and spreadsheet software applications
• Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational, analytical and detail
oriented abilities.
• Commitment to excellence in customer satisfaction
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks
• Self motivated to identify, resolve, and report issues impacting
deliverables in a timely and effective manner
EDUCATION
• Work requires a BA/BS in Journalism, English, Technical Communications,
or related field.
