Position: Information Assurance Engineer
Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-11-26
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and
must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Top
Secret clearance required.
Provides security engineering designs and implementation in all aspects of
Information Assurance and Information Security (InfoSec) Engineering. Assesses
and mitigates system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle;
validates system security requirements definition and analysis; establishes
system security designs; implements security designs in hardware, software,
data, and procedures; verifies security requirements; performs system
certification and accreditation planning and testing and liaison activities,
and supports secure systems operations and maintenance.
Developing and writing Information Assurance, Security, and C&A Documentation
such as: System Security Plans (SSP and SSAA), Security Concept of Operations
(SCONOPS) documents, System Test and Evaluation Plans and Reports, Security
White Papers, Risk Assessments, Vulnerability Reports, POA&M Reports, Security
User Guides, etc.
Performing security engineering analysis, risk analysis, and vulnerability
studies on systems and applications under development. Conducting network
scans, Information Assurance tests, regression tests, and functional security
software tests.
Consulting with customer to identify and mitigate risks or flaws in designs and
operational systems.
Designing and providing guidance for security audit and monitoring
functionality.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
• Familiar with full life-cycle security activities (from Requirements to
O&M).
• Knowledgeable about security and network tools and their capabilities.
• Understands network architectures and security vulnerabilities
associated with network elements.
• Capable of working with (from) system and network diagrams and schema,
configuration files, security tables, etc.
• Through understanding of the C&A process. Strong NIST experience
preferred.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or
equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional
experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters
degree. Considered an emerging authority.
