Reporting to the CTO of the School, the administrator will analyze, design, and implement a network infrastructure incorporating routers, switches, bridges, wireless hubs, patch panels, data ports, and any other necessary network components. Administrator will configure, install, diagnose network equipment and servers (e.g., mainly Windows and Linux). Will be responsible for troubleshooting problems with connectivity and availability of network equipment (e.g., Cisco switches, Juniper Netscreen Firewall) and application servers (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, IIS servers, Veritas) and appliances (etc., Ironport), add-ons (e.g., Scanmail), etc. Plan and implement network security measures and network usage and activity monitoring tools. Create disk images and configure re-imaging processes. Document network diagrams, port labels, and server configurations. Provide faculty, staff, and students with 3nd ti er on-site technical support as dispatched by SUSE IT support center. Configure and maintain User quota, privileges, and accounts including remote access. Configure and maintain system redundancy, backup, and data restore measures. Create, modify, or disable Windows or UNIX variant server accounts. Schedule and maintain system backup routines. Provide on-site User training on systems and applications as directed. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. MCSE. Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, Linux, Windows 2003 enterprise network structure, routing table, proxy server, segmented IP sets, Packet QOS, server administration and network troubleshooting utilities. Must be service oriented and committed to work with students, faculty and staff. Minimum 3-year network and system administration experience in multi-platform environment (e.g., PC, Mac, UNIX). Attention to detail; recognition of the importance of accuracy. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to direct own efforts while coordinating with others and prioritize work and meet schedules. Must be capable of lifting and moving computer equipment.
