Data Center Security Engineer, Stanford University, Job ID 26550
The Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT) provides information
technology and knowledge management services in support of the Stanford
University School of Medicine's clinical, research and educational missions.
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director, Privacy and Data
Security, the Data Center Security Engineer will collaboratively work with
IRT’s Data Center and Privacy and Data Security groups and act as liaison
to the Data Center.
Responsibilities:
Define and publish process for responding to security incidents within the Data
Center, train Data Center personnel in process and monitor to ensure
conformance to process;
Redesign Data Center network to provide for individual secure zones, document
and publish new secure network design, train Data Center personnel regarding
new network design and use;
Oversee Data Center firewall operations, change firewall rules as needed by
Data Center personnel as new servers are added to the Data Center or new
functionality is needed, monitor firewall logs and respond accordingly in a
timely manner;
Implement and maintain Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) in-line in Data
Center, review IPS logs and respond to potential security threats in a timely
manner;
Implement, document, and publish Tripwire standards, train Data Center
personnel in use of Tripwire and monitor for conformance to defined Tripwire
standards, review Tripwire logs and respond accordingly in a timely manner;
Participate in Data Center change management process, ensure compliance to
change management process, participate in change meetings, ensure that
‘emergency’ changes are documented and tested after-the-fact; monitor
all other Data Center system logs and respond accordingly in a timely manner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Four-year college degree or equivalent required. Certification in
CISSP, CISA, CCNA, or MSCE desired.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in networking and information security
• Minimum of 5 years experience with firewalls and intrusion detections
systems
• Minimum of 5 years experience with data center operations
• Minimum 5 years experience with formal change management process
