Incumbents demonstrate strong technical analytical skills while providing accurate analysis of network security related problems. They have a well-rounded security background and are responsible for performing extensive troubleshooting of customer issues and handling first level escalations in the Security Operations Center (SOC). This individual is customer focused and works to resolve all customer's needs in a timely manner. These needs may involve resolving hardware/software failures, investigating and responding to security threats, and making changes to the security policy of a customer's device. * Provide technical support for VeriSign's Managed Security Services on a 7x24x365 basis. This involves identifying customer issues, extensive troubleshooting, and coordinating resolution or restoral using a variety of applications and testing tools. These events can include hardware/software failures as well as security breaches and threats. * Professionally and courteously answer inbound calls, authenticate callers, create tickets, fill out necessary checklist paperwork, generate CRM tickets for all work and informational requests, handle customer complaints, and escalate according to established procedures. * Demonstrate excellent communication and customer care skills by documenting all activities within our customer delivery systems and communicating with customer representatives in a timely manner. * Ensure Security Events are being monitored, acknowledged, and acted upon. * Ensure that we are implementing best practice security policies that address the customer's business need while protecting their vital corporate assets * Regularly provide high level proactive technical support including device upgrades, IDS signature revision, and hot sparing. * Stay informed of current events in the security industry including the latest exploits and threats, as well as, preventative measures, remediation and restoral techniques. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- KEY REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelors Degree, or equivalent experience. * CCSA, CCNA Certification * 2-4 years functional experience * Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. * Strong background in network security management and internet firewalls * Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills * Knowledge and experience with PC's, LAN topologies (Both Ethernet and Token Ring), routers, hubs, and terminal servers. * Knowledge of intrusion detection such as Snort, Sourcefire, Intrushield, and ISS prodcuts. * Knowledge of trouble ticketing systems/CRM * Understands the operation of test and analysis equipment such as protocol analyzer, LAN/WAN sniffers, etc. * Ability to read and interpret network diagrams * Thorough understanding of the OSI model * Strong interpersonal and customer service skills * Average knowledge of Unix Operating Systems * Experience with processes in functional area (i.e. trouble management, fault management, and provisioning * Understanding of network management concepts and software including SNMP * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret CONTACT --------------------------------------------------- Please send email to Jay Petrella at jpetrella@verisign.com to apply.
