Position: Security Consultant
Location: Hertfordshire, , United Kingdom
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-11-15
Engaging with all departments within the organisation and as required its Joint
Ventures. Gain understanding of all projects, to provide consultancy and advice
on security related topics.
The role requires the individual to have excellent knowledge and experience of
Information Security combined with good commercial awareness and where
appropriate relevant technical skills. Strong communication skills and the
ability to create structured documentation are essential.
The individual will be involved in a variety of information gathering
activities to facilitate the support and projects teams in achieving their
deliverables. Information Security advice will be timely and offer
recommendations for secure cost effective solutions through the business and
its external engagements.
Infrastructure / Efficiency / Process
The level of involvement in business process responsibility, change management
and innovation for any given role. Develop strategic and tactical plans to
engage with the project and support teams as well as engagement models with
Joint Ventures.
Responsible for assessing projects from a security viewpoint, rigorously
assessing risk and providing accurate reports and positioning documents.
The individual must be able to work autonomously with accountability. Formal
reporting mechanisms to both the team leader and departmental managers will be
followed with engagement in checkpoint style meetings as required.
Core Competencies required for this role are:
Expertise & Job knowledge – must have a track record of consultancy or
technical based roles.
Knowledge of technologies – networks, platforms, operating systems and
applications and PKI.
Knowledge of Security standards and controls – BS7799/27001, PCI etc.
Communication – Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with
the ability to present work professionally.
Teamwork – to work as part of a team and to be able to engage and motivate
others to contribute to the team.
Attitude & Personal Motivation – to be driven by achievement of targets
and not allow setbacks to deter from achieving objectives.
Organising and Planning – able to create executable strategic and tactical
plans and to organise self and others to execute these.
Flexibility – to take on new products, tasks, services, strategies, ways
of working etc.
Problem Solving – to find pragmatic solutions to.
Presentation Skills – exceptional at presenting in both formal and
informal situations.
Pro-active – anticipates the need for alternative solutions.
Exp. years of experience
3 to 5 years experience within a similar role.
Educational qualifications
University degrees, professional certificates etc. necessary to carry out the
role.
Graduate level or equivalent.
Recognised Information Security qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, IS27001
Lead Auditor. Technical qualifications such as CCSP, MCSE.
