Pre-Sales Engineer
Suburban, VA

Our client, a leading vendor of Information Security software solutions is 
seeking Pre-Sales Engineer to support its Federal Sector sales team.  This 
position is located in Northern Virginia and will require 20-30% regional and 
national travel.

The Pre-Sales Engineer performs the following function: technical pre-sales 
support for family of information security software products.  

The Pre-Sales Engineer will work with the sales team in a pre-sales role to 
develop and position solutions involving products.
Presentations and conference call discussions are a critical part of this 
position. During the qualifying process, confirm that products meet the 
prospect's requirements and assist sales in technical qualification. Throughout 
the proposal process, articulate and demonstrate solutions, influence 
customer's technical requirements, and position products relative to 
competition.
Working closely with assigned sales personnel, the Pre-Sales Engineer is 
Responsible for the technical aspects of the sales cycle such as product 
demonstrations and presentations, RFP/ RFI/RFQ responses, proposal preparation 
and pricing.
Presentations and demonstration to technical and non-technical audiences.
The Pre-Sales Engineer must obtain a working knowledge of all products they 
will support.
A working knowledge of competitive products for each product set to be 
supported.
Must be able to install and demonstrate all products with a particular focus on 
the product set defined by their manager.

Requirements:
•  Bachelor's degree desired, equivalent experience acceptable for 
exceptional candidates.
•  Exceptional written and oral communication skills required. Prior 
experience presenting complex solutions to sophisticated and demanding 
customers essential.
•  3-5 years experience in several of the following technology areas 
strongly recommended:  Security Compliance, Threat Management, Anti-virus, 
Malware, Security Information Management, Network perimeter security (Firewall, 
IDS, VPN)
•  The Pre-Sales Engineer must have an in-depth knowledge of two or more 
Operating Systems, especially UNIX, NT, Netware or Windows 2000. 
•  Prior experience in Sales Support role with an Information Security 
technology vendor, reseller or consulting firm essential.
•  Strong Federal government market knowledge essential.   
•  Prior experience in sales or business development to the Federal 
government (Military, Civilian or Intelligence) essential.
•  Current Federal government clearance (TS, TS/SCI, TS/SSBI, TS/SSBI LS 
Poly) strongly preferred, but not required.
•  Ability to gain government clearance required.  US Citizenship required.
