Are you tired of working on a product with a long ship cycles, tired of running
regression passes on a huge matrix of test platforms? Are you interested in
doing something different and work on services to deliver on innovation in
rapid fashion? Do you want to protect Microsoft customers from unwanted mail,
phishing attacks and also help keep children’s online experience a safe
one? Can you think like a spammer/phisher to break protection mechanisms and
develop framework for testing complex algorithms?
The improvements in web technologies is making it relatively easy for people to
express themselves, communicate better by mail , blogs, instant messaging,
share personal information like photos and files and also take care of several
banking transactions which is greatly improving ability to express and be
productive. However, this also gives opportunities for criminal minds to take
advantage of people’s personal information to their personal benefit and
the charter for Safety platform team is build technologies and platforms to
protect the windows live and Microsoft users - the focus areas for the team are
anti-spam, anti-phish and family safety and our technologies in these areas are
integrated into various windows live applications such as hotmail, windows live
mail and also to other Microsoft enterprise products such as ForeFront Server
and Exchange server, Internet Explorer to name a few. In addition to this we
also focus on protecting children from being exposed to
unwanted content on the internet and also manage their contact lists to
protect them predators on the net.
We are currently in the planning process to deliver the next set of innovations
into various Microsoft products as part of Windows Live Wave 3.0 planning -
come join us and help us plan the next set of innovation into Windows Live. As
an SDET in Windows Live Safety platform team you will be working in close
alignment with Research, Data quality, development and management team to
deliver the high quality features to windows live products. You will be
responsible for functional validation of safety components , testing the
service components for scale and performance and working with various Microsoft
internal partner teams such as Hotmail, Exchange, Outlook, Windows Live mail,
MSN operations team in service integration testing and deployment of the bits.
As our team is platform team delivering technologies to Live Services and
enterprise products, candidates should have clear grasp on test methodologies
that are applicable in the services organization such as testing services, end
to end data distribution mechanisms and testing and deploying applications in
integration and production environments, in addition to building the right test
infrastructure for regressing the bits. Candidates should have the ability to
drive the quality upstream by clearly articulating and clarifying the
specifications, working closely with developers to understand and influence the
designs and build the right test infrastructure to deliver the identified
quality metrics. Our team’s automation leverages Visual Studio Test
Harness and integrates with WTT for test execution and prior experience in
developing tests in these environments is proffered. As all of the bits from
this team will be delivered to partners, communicating the test plans to p
artner teams and working with partner teams to build appropriate integration
tests is a must have skill. Our team values professional growth on the job and
a balanced work/life and you are responsible to ensuring Microsoft culture and
values are practiced in the team. Qualifications for this position include 2-2
years development background, and 2 to 4 years of testing background.
Developing and testing C/C++ or C# code, experience with .NET Framework and
SQL, and a BS degree in Computer Science or a related field. XML and messaging
knowledge are preferred. Excellent communication skills, ability to work well
with other teams, and strong problem solving skills are required.
Experience with C#, XML, and Web Services is preferred. Other requirements
include strong technical aptitude & problem solving abilities, demonstrated
technical leadership, solid judgment under pressure, and good verbal & written
communication skills.
