Conducts interviews, reviews documents, develops and administers surveys, compose audit reports, and prepares working papers. • Identifies, develops, and documents audit issues and recommendations and operational efficiencies using independent judgement concerning areas being reviewed. • Plans and executes audits of client / server technology platforms (operating systems, DBMS, mainframe, distributed technologies) and evaluates IT internal controls and works collaboratively with management to identify actions needed. • Conducts data extraction, analysis, and security reviews utilising software tools. • Working with business audit colleagues undertakes integrated audits, providing technology audit coverage of business applications and associated technology risk. • Supports audits and consulting engagements related to programming, mainframe batch and on-line processes, client-server architecture, internet and intranet functionality, database extraction, technology strategy, and data communication and network security. Acts as liaison with IT business partners to ensure full understanding of data flow, data integrity and system security. Essential skills / knowledge required: • Knowledge of, and skill in applying, internal auditing and accounting principles and practices, and management principles and preferred business practices would be an asset, as would awareness or familiarity with the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors. • Knowledge of management information systems terminology, concepts and practices. Knowledge of the financial services industry and its regulations and laws. • Knowledge and experience of applications development environments, user acceptance testing, change management and end user computing controls. • Skill in conducting quality control reviews of audit work products. Skill in collecting and analysing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions. Ability in negotiating issues and resolving problems. • Considerable knowledge of distributed technology (i.e. Unix / Sybase and Windows NT), Web-based technology, and basic infrastructure control issues. • Knowledge of generally accepted IS audit standards, statements and practices, and IS security and control practices. • Experience of managing technology audits in a financial services organisation. Experience of managing auditors and / or an audit team and leading audit projects with responsibility for closing audits and reporting to senior management. Qualifications desired: • Degree in relevant subject (e.g. information technology) desirable; • Qualified IT Auditor (QiCA or CISA) preferred.
