Secureworks has engineering branch offices located in Myrtle Beach-South
Carolina, and Atlanta-Georgia.
For the office in Atlanta, the engineering team has an immediate opening for a
Quality Assurance engineer.
The Team: SecureWorks Engineering Team
We resolve technical challenges that address the security domain of computer
science. Our team has a rich set of diverse backgrounds and skills consisting
of engineers that have the highest technical depth in programming and quality.
The Role: Software Quality Assurance Engineer – Atlanta, GA
As a Quality Engineer you will find, examine, report, and track software
defects.
You will utilize your skills in white box, black box, tools testing existing
test plans, and test cases. You will enhance, develop test software, scripts,
create software automation, and learn new tools in the security test domain.
We are looking for outstanding Quality Assurance engineers to help the
engineering team to develop better security products. The ideal candidate has
strong technical skills, quantitative analysis and statistics skills and also
the mindset to apply these skills in business applications.
Candidates would be responsible for a broad range of activities that includes
test tools development, software test automation, testing, and staging software
for pre-deployment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

High Level Requirements:
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics,
Psychology/Sociology, Physics, Operations Research
• Few years of software development or testing experience is a plus.
• Experience programming in C, C++ and/or Java.
• Passion for solving interesting problems.
• Experience with Unix/Linux or Windows environments, C, C++ or Java
development, software systems, information retrieval, network programming is
plus.
• Proficiency with SQL a plus.
• Leadership skills is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Detailed Requirements:
# A strong background in Linux or UNIX (Linux a plus)
- should be able to make use "vi", other Linux commands
- should be able to make use of the gcc, dbg, make
- should be able to read make files, and write test programs for builds
# Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking
- should be able to configure a network in Linux and windows
- should be able to understand the iptables firewall and add delete rules
- should be able to use networking tools such as: tcpdump, tcpreplay, netstat,
ifconfig, others.
# Programming and/or scripting experience at a average level (e.g. C, PERL,
UNIX shell)
- proficient in writing scripts in one or more scripting languages: php, shell,
or jsp
- should be able to write a simple one page C,C++ or java program
- should be ability to read and understand more complex C, C++, or java code
- should be able to understand the dataflow diagrams from a programming
perspective
- should be able to look at the database using querries, or other tools that
can read data from a database
- should be able to read, write to a file
- should be able to data by applying various programming techniques in a simple
fashion
# Testing Experience
- Experience in understanding the scope of the testing a library and/or an
application, from a both from a black box and white box standpoint
- Ability to use test tools from the following categories: portals performance
testing, portals functional testing, penetration test tools such as scanning,
inject exploit code from a client to a server, database performance and tuning
test tools
- Experience in security testing that relates to firewalls, IPS, IDS
# Good problem-solving techniques
- should be able to define and resolve software technical problems
- should be able to understand software systems
- should have good analytical skills and resolve problems by logical
elimination and patterns learned from previous job experiences
- should have the ability to think “outside of the box”
- should be able to resolve problems by involving other people
# Interpersonal Skills
- good command of written and spoken English
- should be a detailed and process oriented person
- should work well individually and as well as a team member
- should have the ability to multi task
Nice to have:
- previous experience as a developer, a network engineer, or a system engineer
- use of test automation tools such as: Webload, LoadRunner, WinRunner,
opensta, others.
- experience with: fragrouter, tcpreplay, snot, stick, tomahawk, or security
tools
- knowledge of other test tools is a plus
- should be able to write make files, and test programs for builds
- previous experience working with network security products
- should have the ability to create, maintain and lead a small team of
engineer’s maximum of four
