Position:       Certification & Accreditation Engineer
Location:       Springfield, Virginia, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

The IT Security Specialists provides information assurance services to 
government customers. Information assurance services may include certification 
and accreditation support, policy and procedure development, risk assessments 
and compliance support. 

Job Duties:
Oversee the efforts of security staff to design, develop, engineer and 
implement solutions to security requirements
Implement and develop IT security policies
Gather and organize technical information about an organization's mission goals 
and needs, existing security products and ongoing programs in the IT arena
Perform risk analyses which also includes risk assessment
Provide support to plan, coordinate and implement an organization's information 
security
Provide support for facilitating and helping organizations identify their 
current security infrastructure and define future programs, design and 
implement security related to IT systems 
Travel may be required up to 25% of the time 

Teams with vacancies:

Major Applications C&A-successful candidates must have experience with 
building and delivering comprehensive C&A packages, prepared in accordance with 
agency needs and applicable standards such as NIST, FISMA, FIPS and other 
regulations and best practices

Architecture Team- Successful candidates must have experience with 
developing enterprise information security architecture designs, incorporating 
a wide range of security products and services from wide area networking to 
desktop level , in accordance with agency needs and applicable Federal 
standards such as NIST, FISMA, FIPS and other security regulations and best 
practices. Strong IT technical skills and the ability to communicate technical 
issues to non-technical colleagues is desired. 

Infrastructure C&A- Successful candidates must have experience with 
mainframe security and must be able to evaluate the correctness and quality of 
C&A work performed to ensure that security artifacts are standardized, correct 
and complete, and meet all Federal and agency compliance requirements. Must 
have good writing and verbal communication skills.

Field ISSO-The person needs to be a strong and very capable LAN ISSO, 
able to work independently and to have good writing skills as well as technical 
skills (good understanding of Windows XP servers, workstations, and strong 
security/IA understanding). The individual must also be a good communicator 
with management level and technician level resources. The individual must also 
be detail-oriented and not shy away from the fairly significant writing 
responsibilities associated with the position.  



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
The qualified candidate must possess a working knowledge of several of the 
following areas: understanding of business security practices and procedures; 
knowledge of current security tools available; hardware/software security 
implementation; different communication protocols; encryption techniques/tools; 
familiarity with commercial products and current Internet technology. Must 
possess proven IT skills with strong communications skills, including giving 
formal presentations. Must also demonstrate experience directing the 
development of information and information security systems based on 
understanding the information gathering requirements of customers.  Must be 
willing and able to successfully complete a thorough background investigation.  
Must possess a minimum of a Secret level clearance
