and staffing, is searching for a Senior Network Security Engineer for an 
initial 8 week contract with longer term potential for our client in Denver,

Summary: 

Our client is looking for a highly motivated and detail oriented candidate who 
is capable of following both verbal and written procedures as well as act 
independently when necessary. The successful candidate must have had previous 
experience in perimeter security device management, customer support, security 
operations, and system administration. Excellent inter-personal communication 
and team building skills are essential.

Job Description: 

The candidates' primary responsibility will be managing and monitoring the 
Firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) that enable our client's data 
networking infrastructure.

This involves:
* Analyze technical requirements to determine appropriate firewall 
configurations
* Consult with customers to design secure solutions to business needs
* Configure, maintain, and review/modify firewall rule sets
* Analyze and report on firewall security and performance activity
* Configure and deploy IDS technology
* Tune IDS sensors as appropriate
* Adhere to strict configuration management and change control procedures
* Participate on the state Incident Response team as necessary

Candidate must be willing to be in an on-call rotation and work in necessary 
maintenance windows after business hours. The candidate will also need to be 
able to work on projects either as a lead or within a group and be able to 
properly allocate their time to ensure deadlines are met. A portion of time 
will be spent keeping up with current application updates, patches and hot 
fixes. The candidate will also be involved in making recommendations and 
assisting in the future design activities associated with running a secure 
network environment, and consulting with state departments to design secure 
perimeter security systems.



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------

Required Skills: 

* Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or 5 years of equivalent work experience 
coupled with at least one security certification (CISSP,
CISM, GSEC).
* 3+ years experience in computer security discipline with working knowledge of 
information security theory and practice.
* 1-3 years experience with customer facing support.
* Experience in routing (BGP, OSPF) and switching, network troubleshooting and 
monitoring.
* General data center experience, cabling, infrastructure, etc.
* Solid knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, IPSec, VPNs, etc.
* Systems Administration experience with Windows/UNIX/Linux operating systems.
* Strong, hand-on experience with Firewall and IDS
administration
* In-depth working knowledge of networking, principles of routing, internet 
services and protocols and their security implications.
* Experienced in the creation of training documentation and standard operating 
procedures
* Possess effective verbal and written communications as well as strong 
organizational skills
* Must be capable of working well independently as well as in a highly 
collaborative team environment
* Flexibility to work occasional weekends and after hours/on-call.
