IT Security Architect 

Position Status: Full Time Employee 
Work Location: Rosslyn, VA

Required Skills: 

Successful candidates will possess a mix of the following knowledge, skills, 
and abilities:

•Experience with Information Security Architecture, as well as Process, 
Audit/Compliance, and Risk Management •Solid understanding of security 
concepts, goals, and technologies •Knowledge of Government Certification 
and Accreditation process and government security requirements and standards 
(e.g., FIPS, NIST 800 series, OMB 130, etc.) •Infrastructure security 
(e.g., intrusion detection/monitoring tools, VPN, anti-virus, LAN/WAN security 
issues, server hardening, etc.) •Security architectures: understanding of 
how multiple technologies interoperate •Encryption / Authentication 
fundamentals (e.g., PKI/CA, Radius, smartcards, etc.) •Application level 
security •Experience with all phases of product development lifecycle 
•Exposure to UNIX and/or Microsoft environments •Abilit! y to de 
velop technical/application architecture as new requirements arise 
•Ability to define a comprehensive security environment •Ability to 
cre
 ate security architecture scope, definition, construction, and execution 
•Experience in designing and developing cost-effective solutions that meet 
functional, technical, and performance requirements •Experience in mapping 
business requirements to security technologies •Ability to review 
technical documentation to verify compliance with security requirements, 
security standards, and guidelines •Ability to identify, clarify, and 
resolve system development and maintenance activity issues and risks, 
escalating them as needed •Express ideas clearly and effectively both 
verbally and in writing •Ability to understand the business impact of 
security issues and communicate these to senior management

Educational Qualifications: 

Bachelors degree in related field, 10+ years of experience, and ability to 
obtain a DHS security clearance.

Daily Duties: 

The IT Security Architect will support our client's information security 
program by:

•facilitating input from the customer and end users to identify functional 
and technical security and privacy requirements; •reporting progress and 
issues to the security team, managing stakeholder expectations, and identifying 
methods for dealing with challenges; •helping to define functional and 
technical security requirements; •helping to define the security 
architecture, and ensuring that it meets business requirements and government 
security standards; •working with other architects to ensure the products 
and components work together to meet security objectives as defined in the 
requirements; •participating in all recommendations regarding hardware, 
network products, and system software to ensure security compliance; 
•participating in security architecture analysis, design, and impleme! 
ntation , and ensuring that the product fulfills the requirements; 
•working with the support unit to determine how operational security 
requirement
 s are satisfied; •developing security process documentation (e.g., 
incident response, patch management, etc.); and •reviewing security design 
deliverables throughout the development process to ensure quality and 
requirement traceability.
