Position: Sr. Security Engineer
Location: South San Francisco, California, United States

Official title is IT Security and eDiscovery Specialist. Very aggressive
compensation package for this role, regular full-time in South San Francisco
with Elan.

focused on discovering, developing, manufacturing and marketing advanced
therapies in neurology, autoimmune diseases and severe pain.
Primary Objective of Position:
The IT Security & e-Discovery Specialist will be responsible for the management
of security measures and technical solutions to protect Elan information and
systems, as well as the development of policies and procedures to ensure proper
conduct of personnel relating to the protection of that data. This position
will also be responsible for managing e-Discovery activities at Elan including
acting as a key point of contact with Elan's Legal department and co-ordinating
all IT related legal support activities including investigations and litigation
support.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
-Engage with Elan's Legal department and outside counsel on all IT related
aspects of e-Discovery initiatives.
-Provide expert assistance to our legal representatives in dealing with all
e-Discovery requests, including gathering requirements, co-ordinating or
carrying out data preservation and collection, co-ordinating or carrying out
data processing and searching, and working with outside counsel to deliver
relevant data.
-Contribute to security incident response efforts, including the application of
log analysis and computer forensics techniques.
-Engage with IT and business functions to assess and improve the security of
Elan infrastructure and applications. Assist with the development and
implementation of IT Security Policies and Standards based on ISO27001.
-Participate in security risk assessment process for new projects, including
provision of expert advice on system and network architectures, appropriate
security controls, and overall risk rating.
-Assist with the technical risk assessment of new technologies and existing IT
assets, so that the business requirements for security are identified, and all
identified risks are managed in an effective manner.
-Technical evaluation and selection of IT security management tools to enable
the implementation of Elan's IT Security Policies and Standards.
-Assist with the development and implementation of an information security
review programme and provision of assistance to Elan business units in the
development of corrective action plans for identified non-conformances.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Job Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience.
-Minimum of 5 years experience in dedicated Information Security or law
enforcement / investigative roles.
Skills and Abilities:
-In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, including versions 5.5 and 2003.
-Detailed knowledge of enterprise email archiving products.
-Detailed knowledge of electronic discovery processing tools.
-Ability to manage multiple large scale e-Discovery and system imaging projects.
-Ability to manage and lead complex technical investigations and present clear
concise objective analysis of technical facts for review by non technical
audience.
-Ability to effectively liaise with Law Enforcement across multiple
jurisdictions and external legal teams.
-Incident management, to include incident response and analysis of compromised
systems.
-Platform vulnerability assessments.
-Application testing/assessment to include web-based applications
-Network architecture, to include segmented / isolated networks and third-party
collaboration systems.
-In-depth experience in Information Security Policy & Standards creation and/or
maintenance.
-Ability to work independently and interact with various levels of management.
-Strong interpersonal, planning, organization and time management skills with
the ability to handle multiple projects without direct supervision and perform
in a demanding environment.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including
technical/non-technical communication, documentation and presentations.
-Strong problem solving and root cause analysis experience.
-Ability to work effectively as a team member.
