Position: Application Security Architect
Location: Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, United States
Type: Permanent F/T

Vanguard, one of the world's largest investment management companies, seeks a
senior-level IT Architect to provide expert level IT architecture analysis and
design for enterprise-wide infrastructure across all systems and platforms. You
will specialize in technical and operations architecture.
You will provide a range of architecture services, including architecture
reviews, audits, IT vendor product evaluations, and buy/build recommendations.
You will conduct architecture reviews to assess impact of proposed systems on
infrastructure. You'll review and approve IT project team architecture
choices. You will meet regularly with IT managers and teams to advise on
architecture choices and to understand business division needs. You'll monitor
project team compliance with architecture standards, especially production
acceptance standards. You'll help ensure IT's architecture superiority in the
financial services industry.
You will help IT project teams write architecture documents, including
operations engineering review and related infrastructure documents,
architecture planning estimates, performance test plans, and operations
deliverables. You will analyze technical aspects of architecture and
integrations, including full product life cycle, risk, quality assurance,
performance, security, business continuance, and data sharing. You'll analyze
qualitative and quantitative data, including data access and usage, costs, and
systems performance.
You will create prototypes and design systems that are consistent, compatible,
reusable, and scaleable, have optimal manageability and security, and perform
well logically and physically. You'll evaluate and test IT vendor products,
and recommends buy/build. You'll interface with architecture best practices
trade organizations and research firms. You will resolve the most critical
issues elevated from IT project teams and staff with less experience.
You'll mitigate risks of architecture enhancements (hardware, systems, and
technical services) and plan and conducts audits. You will write
documentation, including policies and procedures, white papers, audits, and
technical assessments. You will evaluate architecture-related documents
developed by IT specialists.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Undergraduate degree in a related field, computer science or computer
engineering preferred.
- Eight year's broad senior technical and operations experience. Financial
services industry experience, preferred.
- Exceptional analysis and problem solving skills
- Exceptional conceptual skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
- Unconventional thinking and understanding of group psychology
- Ability to adapt quickly to change
- Broad knowledge of the financial services industry
- CISSP certification an asset
- SSP certification desirable
- Expert knowledge of the following architecture practices and concepts:
