Certification & Accreditation IT Security Specialist
The Job:
The IT Security Specialist provides information assurance services to
government customers. Information assurance services may include certification
and accreditation support, policy and procedure development, risk assessments
and compliance support.
Current Teams with Vacancies:
Major Applications C&A-successful candidates must have
experience with building and delivering comprehensive C&A
packages, prepared in accordance with agency needs and
applicable standards such as NIST, FISMA, FIPS and other
regulations and best practices.
Classified Team-Successful candidates must have good
working
knowledge of physical, operational and technical security
practices and procedures in a classified computing environment.
Good understanding of Federal IT security policies for
classified systems. Must have hands-on capability to build a
computer desktop image and good communication skills.
Architecture Team- Successful candidates must have experience
with developing enterprise information security architecture
designs, incorporating a wide range of security products and
services from wide area networking to desktop level , in
accordance with agency needs and applicable Federal standards
such as NIST, FISMA, FIPS and other security regulations and
best practices. Strong IT technical skills and the ability to
communicate technical issues to non-technical colleagues is
desired.
Infrastructure C&A- Successful candidates must be familiar with
IT infrastructure (such as Wide Area Networks, routers,
firewalls, servers, wireless communications; RFI, satellite and
Microwave communications; PKI, VOIP and PBX; security test and
evaluation of the same) be able to evaluate the correctness and
quality of C&A work performed to ensure that security artifacts
are standardized, correct and complete, and meet all Federal
and agency compliance requirements. Must have good writing and
verbal communication skills. Potential for 25% travel.
TAF POAM Team- Experience working with CBP or other DHS
components and detailed knowledge about the organization is
desirable, but not mandatory. An understanding of information
technology is highly desirable. Experience researching and
assimilating data into clear and concise documents, tables, and
reports. Essential attributes include intellectual curiosity,
integrity, strategic thinking, and excellent organizational,
administrative, and verbal and written communication skills.
Strong PC skills, including the ability to use databases and
generate documents using Microsoft Office tools, such as MS
Excel and MS Word. Ability to work collaboratively with other
team members, other contractors, and client personnel
(including senior executives). Ability to maintain focus,
exercise mature judgment and discretion, and perform multiple
tasks simultaneously in a high-stress, dynamic environment.
General Job Duties:
• Oversee the efforts of security staff to design, develop, engineer and
implement solutions to security requirements
• Implement and develop IT security policies
• Gather and organize technical information about an organization's
mission goals and needs, existing security products and ongoing programs in the
IT arena
• Perform risk analyses which also includes risk assessment
• Provide support to plan, coordinate and implement an organization's
information security
• Provide support for facilitating and helping organizations identify
their current security infrastructure and define future programs, design and
implement security related to IT systems
• Identify opportunities to grow the business
• Take initiative on generating leads or performing other relevant
actions in order to develop relationships with prospects
• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance is a must
Qualifications:
The qualified candidate must possess a working knowledge of several of the
following areas: understanding of business security practices and procedures;
knowledge of current security tools available; hardware/software security
implementation; different communication protocols; encryption techniques/tools;
familiarity with commercial products and current Internet technology. Must
provide daily supervision and direction to staff and show proven IT
professional with strong managerial, supervisory and communications skills,
including giving formal presentations. Must also demonstrate experience
directing the development of information and information security systems based
on understanding the information gathering requirements of customers.
Education & Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or 10+ years
experience in lieu of degree
• Professional certifications, such as the Certified Information Systems
Security
• Professional (CISSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Global
Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) are a plus
