Position: Developer
Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

CLIENT
Client is formed via a joint venture between the Australian Government and a
company that provides real-time technology and services dedicated to delivering
market surveillance, market supervision, compliance and other regulatory
solutions for capital markets and the capital markets value chain.
The client has deployed technology solutions in over 30 national trading
exchanges and regulators as well as 50+ brokers across 21 countries.
SUMMARY
Current project is at a startup phase.
Programming function will be a combination of maintenance and blue-sky
development working with complex data-structures and distributed systems
managing massive amounts of data.
The platform will receive full order-level data feeds via numerous global stock
exchanges and complete complex cross-market analysis of the data with high
performance, precision and reliability.
You will work (initially) with a small team of developers to produce the
software.
This team will be led by a senior developer who is an expert in the proprietary
software which will be an agile environment (at least for the first year or
two).
You will be responsible to internal customers and have direct dealings with the
much larger client parent company.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Running the platform.
• Troubleshooting problems with incoming data
• Setting up and maintaining data feeds
• Ensuring highly reliable operation.
OPPORTUNITIES
• There may be an opportunity to learn .NET3 (Avalon).
PREREQUISITES
• Expert in C++
• Good with pointers and data-structures
• Good at communicating complex ideas
• Good at working within a team
• Australian resident
• Creative thinker
• Willing to perform the less creative aspects of the job
ADVANTAGEOUS
• Good marks in relevant computer science subjects
• Experience in multi-threaded programming
• TCP/IP
• Linux
• .NET3 (Avalon)
• Distributed systems
• Knowledge of finance
• A real interest in programming evident by completion of a large,
complex personal project (around 10 000 lines of code; or equally complex
functionality)
SALARY RANGE
• Between $55K - $90K + Super. Will consider a graduate with good
marks.
