Position: Director, Information Security
Location: San Mateo, California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-07-30
The Senior Director of IT Security is a key member of the CIO Staff which
provides IT governance and support for the company’s business worldwide.
This position will be focused on all aspects of IT security, with particular
emphasis on Applications and Infrastructure Security. The position works
closely with the business units and the CIO requiring the ability to balance
business needs and corporate standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead a global team of IT security professionals that includes direct and
dotted-line reports.
- Develop a strategic information security plan with a vision for the future of
information security.
- Develop action plans, schedules, budgets, status reports and other top
management communications intended to improve the status of information
security.
- Promote information security and privacy standards, policies and procedures;
ensure that these artifacts are disseminated, understood and implemented across
the business.
- Lead development of the enterprise security policies, standards, and
procedures. Research and evaluate new technologies.
- Define and implement a risk-based approach to identifying, monitoring,
measuring and reporting various types of information security risks.
- Identify and prioritize security risks and recommend mitigating controls.
- Define and deliver global security education program.
- Define, identify and classify critical information assets, assess threats and
vulnerabilities regarding those assets and implement safeguard recommendations.
- Perform security assessments (based on BS 17799) of external vendors and
service providers.
- Lead the execution of information security and infrastructure corporate
initiatives across all the business units.
- Provide governance for the identification, validation and remediation of
information technology controls required by Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Examines information security from a cross-organizational viewpoint including
participation in extranets, electronic data interchange (EDI) trading networks,
ad-hoc Internet commerce relationships, and other new business structures, and
makes related recommendations to protect information and information systems.
- Lead the Security Council which is made up of a cross organizational/cross
functional team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Director level experience in IT Security or IT operations/infrastructure
services
- Recognized as leader in IT security industry
- Deep understanding in all aspects of IT security strategy, technologies and
tools
- Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to work effectively at executive
levels
- Expert program and project management skills
- Bachelors in business/technology required; Masters degree preferred
- Certifications in one or more of the following areas preferred: CISSP, CISA,
CISM, GISO, GCIH
