Administers multiple functions within a security network infrastructure and/or provide consultative advice to senior IT management to protect from unauthorized network and computer intrusion. Administers the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of our Firewalls and peripheral security. Coordinates remote access to our network including VPN security. Contributes to network support, troubleshooting operational issues, problem resolution, hardware/software installation, and support. 2. Regularly monitors network and security intrusion through automated tools and event logging. Conducts vulnerability assessments, publishes recommendations for improvement, and effects action plans to protect the network. Author security policies and procedures. Assists Human Resources and/or Facilities-Security in investigations or follow-up. 3. Applies principles, theories, and concepts to develop plans and strategies to resolve major issues. May lead analysis of business practices or design of technical solutions. May recommend hardware and software and/or research new related business or technical developments. Projects are strategic and complex in nature and affect the company. 4. Offers technological innovation and improvements that will add cross-functional value. Applies thorough knowledge of the business or technical environment to determine strategic issues. Develops, plans, and organizes, complex programs and projects. Operates beyond own organization recognizing business concerns. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- REQUIRED SKILLS – • PEOPLE: Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written; ability to coordinate multiple business areas. Interacts with peers and managers on business and technical issues. Interacts heavily with IT Network and Infrastructure groups. Will interact and coordinate the activities of outsourced Firewall providers. • PROCESS: Several years of increasingly more responsible experience in network and computer security. Thorough knowledge of company business practices, goals, and business operations to evaluate, recommend and market alternative programs or proposals within an organization. Functions as adviser on projects or programs. Accomplishes results through individual contribution. May interpret and execute policies that affect individual employees. Conducts meetings. • TECHNICAL: Experience in configuring, installation, and support of Information Security hardware and software. Previous hands-on experience in setting up firewall rules and access control lists in a high availability fault tolerant network. Experience in managing VPNs and secure networks. Experience in managing networks and security with Checkpoint software, Intrusion Detection Software (IDS) and NT/Unix server Systems Administration including operating system upgrades to remain current with security patches. Experience in enterprise security and protection from outside penetration through email and the Internet. • PLANNING/IMPLEMENTATION: Experience in project planning implementation efforts involving users from several departments, outside consultants, or outside vendors. Ability to coordinate activities and communications between several different groups, negotiate relationships and agreements with vendors. Ability to convey complex ideas through oral and written communication. • INDUSTRY: Experience in enterprise wide IT Security Administration in a fault tolerant network. Ability to select appropriate tools for implementation of systems including hardware, software, or operating systems to maintain a reliable and secure environment.
