Position: Security Engineer
Location: San Jose (open), California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-05-21

The Network Consulting Engineer will provide consulting services including
Security Posture Assessments (SPA), Security Architecture Reviews (SAR),
network security design reviews, Security Configuration Reviews (SCR) and Cisco
security product implementations. Individual will serve as a team leader for
extended engagements focused in the US West (travel time 50%); will be
responsible for finalization and delivery of reports for each consulting
engagement; will prepare and deliver formal presentations for senior (C-level)
executives; will develop and maintain software tools to enhance Cisco
consulting services; and will contribute directly to Cisco''s knowledge
management initiatives by documenting and briefing other Cisco security
consultants on lessons learned from engagements and by developing new
methodologies for delivering services.
Candidate must be a self-motivated individual that is dedicated to exceeding
client expectations, be willing to contribute to team efforts, and possess
strong interpersonal and presentation skills, in addition to possessing the
following technical skills:
1) System administrator-level expertise in multi-user operating systems
including multiple UNIX variants (REQUIRED) and Microsoft Windows
2) Experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting network security for
enterprise customers
3) Extensive experience in security configuration of network devices (routers,
switches, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems)
4) Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting one (1) or more of
the following Cisco security technologies: Cisco Security Agent (CSA), NAC
framework, NAC appliance, IPS, ASA, CS-MARS
5) Detailed understanding of TCP/IP protocols
6) Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, BGP) and layer 2 protocols
and technologies
7) Experience scripting in one (1) or more of the following languages: sh, csh,
perl, python, awk
8) Working knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools such as nmap, nessus,
ettercap
9) Experience in project management, ability to clearly communicate security
planning and technology issues verbally on both a formal and informal basis to
all levels of client staff and at network security industry events/seminars.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Recommended Certifications and Educational Background:
1) CCNP, CCSP, CCIE desired but not required. One (1) or more of the following
industry certifications: CISSP, NSA IAM, NSA IEM, SANS GIAC
REQUIRED SKILLS:
2) Expert-level knowledge in network security design, architecture and
implementation.
System-administrator level knowledge of multiple UNIX variants (REQUIRED).
3) Position requires BS in a technical field or equivalent experience and a
minimum of nine (9) years experience in systems/network security.
PREFERRED SKILLS: CCIE
