The Role
Job Purpose
The post holder’s responsibilities will include the day to day processes
of the
operation of Firewalls, host and network intrusion detection systems, external
connectivity and bandwidth management. In addition, operation and management of
specialist security controls and security consultation to Business Solutions
and the
Company Security team.
The successful candidate will also be required to support other members of the
team and contractors where necessary, as directed by the Management team.
Additionally the post holder will be responsible for threat assessment,
penetration and security testing of relevant systems. This work will be carried
out with the assistance of specialist consultants, government agencies and
service providers as and when required. Training will be given as required.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsibility for the Control System and Security management systems including
visiting sites, preparing reports and presentation of recommendations and
findings to internal customers at all levels of the organisation.
Ensuring regular security assessment and testing for the relevant systems and
applications.
Ensuring vulnerabilities are acted upon, in an appropriate and timely fashion.
Ensuring any relevant incidents alerts or reports are investigated.
Participate in the team incident standby rota and standby duties for a number
of technical security controls.
Operation and support of specialist security control systems relating to
networks.
Liaison with Architecture and strategy teams to ensure the security team
supports new innovations, by advising on security solutions.
Co-Ordinate up-grades and replacement of key hardware and systems.
Installation and operation of approved and supported security controls,
software and hardware products on all platforms. Document these installations
to the agreed company standard.
Problem determination and resolution of supported security controls, by
liaising with other members of IT Operations teams.
Liaison with external organisations, e.g. support companies and reference sites.

Able to align priorities to meet or exceed the prevailing SLA’s
Dedicated to the demands of providing a reliable service in a non-stop,
round-the-clock environment including participation in a standby rota.
A well-balanced individual, capable of reacting calmly, authoritatively and
effectively in an emergency.
Personal:
A technically accomplished individual with a broad range of industry experience.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Strong delivery focus balanced by a consultative style of approach.
Demonstrates sound judgement and business awareness.
