In this newly created role, you’ll join a growing company that takes
security very seriously. This position reports to a Director of Corporate
Security who in turn reports directly to the CEO. Security in this organization
is supported from the CEO level on down. This company operates significant web
based applications. While this role has many responsibilities, your focus will
be to protect mission critical applications and corresponding databases. To
provide this protection, you’ll work with state-of-the-art
application/database layer intrusion / prevention technology that operates in a
way that is very similar to the operation of other IDS technology. You’ll
proactively monitor threats and provide mitigation when threats are real.
You’ll work closely with the security team, the network operations team
and those whose responsibility is application development. In addition to
providing Intrusion Detection / Prevention services, you’ll also assist wit
h PCI (Payment Card Industry) and data security audits / assessments.
Advancement in this company is entirely possible. You’ll implement
security tools for Microsoft Windows and UNIX (Sun Solaris) systems as needed
and applicable and will monitor alerts and coordinate patch management with
corresponding teams. We have placed several members of the information security
team and have seen each person grow significantly. You’ll report to a
Director who has a hands-on security background, significant certifications and
who also takes a sincere interest in the growth of those on his team.
Job Requirements
Requires a BA/BS and 4+ years of hands-on experience in multiple security
disciplines including Network Security, Intrusion Detection / Prevention,
Threat and Vulnerability Management, Enterprise Anti-Virus, etc. In addition to
hands-on IDS experience, you must demonstrate understanding of web application
security and database security. Experience with an application / database layer
intrusion detection / prevention appliance is greatly appreciated. You’ll
demonstrate broad experience with network security in both UNIX and Windows
environments where you have monitored threats and mitigated vulnerabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must as you will
communicate across many lines of business and at many different levels within
the organization. A CISSP is strongly preferred. Additional preferred
certifications include a CCNA, MCSE, Cisco Security Specialist and/or
applicable SANS certifications.
