Position: Sr. Security Engineer
Location: Cupertino, California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-02-24
Apple is seeking an exceptional Information Security expert to join a
world-class information security team. This is a highly technical, hands-on
role in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Respond to IT threats and vulnerabilities and bring these issues to resolution
- Support the Global IT Security infrastructure
- Participate in project meetings and performing security design reviews
- Define security operational processes to include compliance requirements
- Research the latest security best practices and staying abreast of new
threats and vulnerabilities
Personal requirements include:
- A strong ability to multi-task and manage varying priorities with a high
attention to detail
- Capable of communicating with technical and non-technical audiences via both
verbal and written communications (e.g, brown bags/chalk-talks, technical
writings, standard operating procedures, frequently asked questions, etc.)
- The ability to analyze complex problems, quickly develop creative solutions,
and adapt to a fast paced environment
Technical requirements include:
- Proficiency in either Mac OS X or other flavors of UNIX, firewalls/VPNs, AV,
IDS, NIDS/HIDS, protocol analyzers, and vulnerability scanners
- Solid understanding in TCP/IP protocols, encryption algorithms, security
engineering, server security architectures, authentication and security
protocols
- Understanding SOX, PCI, COSO/COBIT and WebTrust controls/requirements
- Experience performing packet analysis or system forensics
- Experience with C, C++, Java, PERL, PHP, Python, and shell scripting
- Familiarity with penetration testing, buffer overflows, SQL injections, and
other advanced hacking techniques
Other skills that are not required, but strongly support the role include:
- Experience securing OSX or other flavors of UNIX, network routers and switches
- Knowledgeable in securing Oracle, MySQL, and FileMaker Pro databases
- Prior experience in performing IT-related investigations
JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Position requires a BS in Computer Science or 4+ years of equivalent hands-on
experience in the areas of Information Security, Network Security, or
Operations.
- Certifications considered include: SSCP, CISSP, CISA, Cisco, and other SANS
GIAC credentials
- Involvement in open source technologies and development/security communities
is a plus
